As a diabetic, you must remember that YOU HAVE<\/span> a pre-existing condition so you must be extremely careful.<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Basically, the do\u2019s and don\u2019ts for you is the same as for everyone else.<\/span><\/h2>\n

I\u00a0\u00a0“self quarantined” myself several days ago.\u00a0 I am over 60 years of age and my son has Crohn’s disease so we both have “pre-existing conditions”. We informed our family and friends that we would not open our doors for ANYONE. And we haven’t.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My sick son lives with me, but we have made it clear to our friends & family that we have pre-existing conditions and must keep each other safe.\u00a0 So no visitors. So far, so good.<\/span><\/p>\n

But what do we do after the 14 days of quarantine?\u00a0 (Shelter in place)? I don\u2019t know! In the meantime, I will share the many thoughts I have and things that I learn during this crisis and my lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharing is a 2-way street.\u00a0 What are your experiences? Share with us here.<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

I will reevaluate the status of the world and make further adjustments as I see fit.<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember my adult working years.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what I would have done under these same circumstances.\u00a0 I could not afford to leave my job, and I sure could not afford to lose my paycheck.\u00a0 It took me forever to learn to live on my little pension. I don’t know how much adjustment I could do, with no income at all. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is like the end of the world we knew and the beginning of a new world. The difference?\u00a0 I have nothing!<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do? Children not in school, no job, no money. If You don\u2019t have one, you do have the other.\u00a0 I won\u2019t try to tell you that everything will be alright, but we have never gone through anything like this in our lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n

I must face that this is what it is! T<\/strong>his is<\/strong> where we are<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

The important thing is that we not let this moment, crisis kill our spirit<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"We must face the fact that for the first time in our history, we are in a space that won\u2019t expand for us, that we can\u2019t wiggle around get out of.<\/span><\/p>\n

We face disappointments at every turn. Be grateful for what we have.\u00a0 Others have lost so much more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our world may never be the same.<\/span><\/p>\n

Plan for the best but always be prepared for the worst.<\/span><\/p>\n

How do we deal with our feelings? How do we deal with our day to day living?<\/span><\/p>\n

Happy, sad, don\u2019t know what tomorrow will bring? No future. Uprooted from our \u201cgood\u201d jobs. Disappointments, children to feed, rent to pay, food to buy, heat and electricity expenses. Just keeping up with daily living expenses are overwhelming, almost impossible.\u00a0 No matter what, there is nothing you can do about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting up every morning and seeing the children not going to school seems like something you read about in a history book.<\/span><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know the answers, but I believe in a Higher Being that makes the final determination and I believe in preparation for what might be the future, whatever it is. Because we are not really in control? Are We?<\/span><\/p>\n

Is there a way around this or out of this?<\/span><\/p>\n

People keep in touch with each other with the cell phone and the computer and many other technical items.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Did you know that many people make a living, support a family, have money in the bank, all from their beds, in their pajamas, using the internet?\u00a0 They turn on their computers, deliver a service, and make money delivering to the public.\u00a0 They don\u2019t even have to get dressed, they don\u2019t have to do this every day.\u00a0 No one sees what you look like, or even care.<\/span><\/p>\n
